Chartier, Ryukov and Cosma Cristofor return to the Misano World Circuit for Round 6 of the Italian F4 Championship — with Sammalisto in position to clinch the title as early as Sunday. In the south of France, Ginevra Panzeri takes on the penultimate round of the French championship at Lédenon, a few kilometres from the Roman Arena of Nîmes.

The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli hosts the Italian F4 Championship for the second time this season — and this round comes loaded with championship significance. Luka Sammalisto (US Racing) leads the standings on 374 points against David Cosma Cristofor’s 275 — a gap of 99 points. With four races available at this round and a maximum of 104 points up for grabs, it is enough for the Finnish driver to maintain a lead of more than 75 points over his Romanian rival after Race 4 to be crowned champion a round early.

David Cosma Cristofor arrives at Misano as the only driver who can still deny Sammalisto the title this weekend — but he knows the margin for error is near zero. He needs to close the gap below 75 points by Sunday evening to keep the fight alive until the Mugello finale on 30 October. A difficult task on a circuit where Sammalisto was dominant in the opening round back in May, but not an impossible one for a driver who has been second in the championship almost all season.

Alongside him in the Pro Racing garage, two different stories. Luboslav Ryukov, who raced the Imola round as his fifth Italian F4 weekend of the year, returns to the grid looking to build on recent form at a circuit he knows. Alexander Chartier — back in action since Round 3 after the early-season difficulties — is hunting the consistency that has been missing through much of the campaign.

While the spotlight falls on Misano, Ginevra Panzeri heads to the Gard region in southern France for the penultimate round of the French Formula 4 Championship. The Circuit de Lédenon — a 3.155km track set among the scrubland a few kilometres from the ancient Roman Arena of Nîmes — is one of the most scenic and technically demanding circuits on the French calendar, with blind crests, quick direction changes and an old-school layout that rewards instinct as much as data. The title battle at the top is virtually over — Guillaume Bouzar’s five wins this season make him all but champion — but the Women’s Championship, where Panzeri is a contender, remains to be decided.

Panzeri arrives at Lédenon with a score to settle. Magny-Cours was the worst weekend of her French F4 campaign: three retirements from three races, two of them in accidents involving other drivers. The contrast with Dijon — where she won the Women’s Trophy in all three races while staying inside the overall top ten — could not be sharper. The objective at Lédenon is to rediscover that version of herself, on a circuit where the three-race format includes a reverse-grid Race 2 for the fastest 12 qualifiers.
