Un sabato con podi, vittorie, grandi risultati e alcune sfortune per i piloti Pro Racing impegnati in questo weekend. Terzo posto è vittoria di Mathilda Paatz nella seconda tappa della F1 Academy a Montreal e il buon 4° posto in Gara 1 della FREC per Reno Francot, c’è anche tanta ProRacing impegnata nell’ACI Racing Weekend di Vallelunga con la Formula 4 e la GT Cup.
Intensa la gara 1 per la pilota tedesca, reduce da due piazzamenti lontani dalla zona punti a Shanghai. In Canada invece – dopo una promettente qualifica chiusa al 5° posto – ha sfruttato benissimo al via lo stallo dell’Audi della leader Emma Felbermayr per mettersi a caccia di Peyton Wescott. Gran duello tra l’Aston Martin e la Mercedes della britannica, forzata all’errore da Paatz che è scalata prima virtualmente – causa penalità a Wescott – e poi ufficialmente al 3° posto. Le resistenze di Megan Bruce (TAG Heuer) non hanno permesso a Paatz di chiudere 2° in una gara dominata dalla Red Bull di Alisha Palmowski, ora in testa al mondiale. A mezzanotte in Gara 2 Paatz è scattata terza e ha costruito la prima vittoria in carriera con un gran passo gara. Alle 16.45 Gara 3
Ottimo passo anche per Reno Francot che, in Gara 1 di Zandvoort del campionato FREC, rimonta dal 7° al 4° posto mettendosi alle spalle i rivali del weekend in Austria – Rashid Al Daeheri e Kean Nakamura-Berta. Gara vinta con forza da Sebastian Wheldon che ha imposto un passo insostenibile e resistito agli attacchi di Salim Hanna. Bene Francot a trovare un gran ritmo e a sorpassare su una pista notoriamente complicata. Gara 2 domenica alle 16.45 per celebrare il GP di casa, ancora in vetta alla classifica.
Nell’ACI Racing Weekend di Vallelunga invece i risultati vengono condizionati da fattori esterni. Ginevra Panzeri chiude 24° e 2° tra le donne in una gara complessa con tante Safety Car e alcuni incidenti che hanno spezzato il ritmo gara. In Gara 2 invece ha partecipato Luboslav Ruykov con la Trident, autore di una grande rimonta, dal 27° posto iniziale al 18° che si trasforma in 11° posto, grazie ad un post gara movimentato pieno di penalità.
La mala sorte tocca anche all’alfiere di ProRacing Motorsport Giancarlo Fisichella. L’equipaggio della DoubleTTRacing si è ritirato per un problema all’alettone posteriore.
A Saturday with podiums, victories, great results and a few misfortunes for Pro Racing drivers competing this weekend. Third place and a win for Mathilda Paatz in the second round of the F1 Academy in Montreal, and a solid fourth place in Race 1 of the FREC for Reno Francot. There is also a strong ProRacing presence at the ACI Racing Weekend in Vallelunga with Formula 4 and the GT Cup.
Race 1 was intense for the German driver, coming off two finishes outside the points in Shanghai. In Canada — after a promising qualifying in fifth — she made excellent use of the stalled Audi of leader Emma Felbermayr at the start to hunt down Peyton Wescott. A great battle unfolded between the Aston Martin and the British driver’s Mercedes, with Wescott forced into a mistake by Paatz, who moved up first provisionally (due to a penalty for Wescott) and then officially into third. Megan Bruce’s (TAG Heuer) defenses kept Paatz from finishing second in a race dominated by Alisha Palmowski’s Red Bull, who now leads the championship. At midnight in Race 2, Paatz started third and produced the first victory of her career with a superb race pace. Race 3 at 16:45.
Reno Francot also showed excellent pace: in Race 1 at Zandvoort in the FREC championship he climbed from seventh to fourth, finishing ahead of his weekend rivals from Austria — Rashid Al Daeheri and Kean Nakamura-Berta. The race was emphatically won by Sebastian Wheldon, who set an unsustainable pace and held off attacks from Salim Hanna. Well done to Francot for finding great rhythm and making passes on a notoriously difficult circuit. Race 2 is on Sunday at 16:45 to celebrate the home GP, still leading the standings.
At the ACI Racing Weekend in Vallelunga, results were affected by external factors. Ginevra Panzeri finished 24th and second among the women in a complicated race with many Safety Car periods and several incidents that broke the race rhythm. In Race 2, Luboslav Ruykov took part for Trident and produced a great comeback, moving from an initial 27th to 18th, which became 11th after a post-race sequence full of penalties.
Bad luck also struck ProRacing Motorsport’s entrant Giancarlo Fisichella. The DoubleTTRacing crew retired due to a problem with the rear wing.
