Il ritorno al Red Bull Ring non porta il riscatto sperato per i tre piloti Pro Racing. Sprint Race senza punti per Del Pino, che resta comunque terzo nel mondiale. Gladysz coinvolto in due incidenti nell’arco del weekend, l’ultimo dei quali lo elimina al via della Feature Race. Difficile anche il weekend di De Palo.
Il sabato di Spielberg appartiene a Ernesto Rivera, che conquista la sua prima vittoria in Formula 3 dopo una battaglia serrata con James Wharton, superato con un sorpasso preciso alla curva 4 al quattordicesimo giro. Per i piloti Pro Racing, però, il sabato porta poche soddisfazioni. Bruno Del Pino chiude in zona punti ma senza guizzi particolari, in una gara segnata da una Safety Car nelle fasi iniziali per il contatto tra i compagni di squadra Trident Strømsted e Slater, e da una Virtual Safety Car a metà gara per detriti in pista. Maciej Gladysz non riesce invece ad agganciare la zona punti, chiudendo tredicesimo, mentre Matteo De Palo fatica fin dalle prime fasi, scivolando nelle retrovie del gruppo che si forma dietro al treno di DRS capeggiato da Pedro Clerot.
La domenica si apre con un episodio che pesa subito sul resoconto Pro Racing: al primo giro, Maciej Gladysz e Yevan David entrano in contatto dopo essere finiti leggermente fuori pista, un incidente che elimina entrambi i piloti e costringe la direzione gara a richiamare la Safety Car per la rimozione delle vetture. Un weekend che si chiude nel peggiore dei modi per il polacco, che arriva da una Sprint Race già senza punti.
La gara si trasforma in una battaglia a quattro tra Ugochukwu, Yamakoshi, Slater e Stromsted, con quest’ultimo che firma la sua seconda vittoria stagionale partendo dalla quarta posizione — un risultato che gli vale il maggior balzo in avanti nella classifica piloti del weekend. Per Bruno Del Pino, la Feature Race non porta punti aggiuntivi, ma il pilota spagnolo conserva comunque il terzo posto nel mondiale grazie al cuscinetto costruito nelle prime tre tappe stagionali.
Per Gladysz, Spielberg si chiude con il bilancio più negativo della stagione: nessun punto in Sprint Race e un ritiro al primo giro in Feature Race per una circostanza di gara più che per un errore proprio. Un weekend da dimenticare in fretta. Nonostante un sabato senza brillare, Bruno Del Pino mantiene la terza posizione nel mondiale, anche se il piazzamento di Rivera lo riavvicina pericolosamente alle sue spalle nella generale.
The return to the Red Bull Ring did not bring the hoped-for redemption for the three Pro Racing drivers. No points for Del Pino in the Sprint Race, who nevertheless remains third in the championship. Gladysz was involved in two incidents over the weekend, the last of which eliminated him at the start of the Feature Race. De Palo also had a difficult weekend.
Saturday in Spielberg belonged to Ernesto Rivera, who took his first Formula 3 victory after a hard-fought battle with James Wharton, passed with a precise move at Turn 4 on lap fourteen. For the Pro Racing drivers, however, Saturday offered little satisfaction. Bruno Del Pino finished in the points zone but without anything special, in a race marked by a Safety Car in the early stages after contact between teammates Trident’s Strømsted and Slater, and by a Virtual Safety Car mid-race for debris on track. Maciej Gladysz was unable to reach the points, finishing thirteenth, while Matteo De Palo struggled from the opening laps, sliding into the back of the pack that formed behind the DRS train led by Pedro Clerot.
Sunday opened with an incident that immediately affected Pro Racing’s weekend: on the first lap, Maciej Gladysz and Yevan David made contact after running slightly off track, an incident that took both drivers out and forced race control to deploy the Safety Car to remove the cars. The weekend ended in the worst possible way for the Pole, who had already left the Sprint Race without points.
The race turned into a four-way battle between Ugochukwu, Yamakoshi, Slater and Strømsted, with the latter claiming his second win of the season starting from fourth — a result that earned him the biggest jump up the drivers’ standings of the weekend. For Bruno Del Pino, the Feature Race brought no additional points, but the Spanish driver still holds third place in the championship thanks to the cushion he built up in the first three rounds of the season.
For Gladysz, Spielberg closed out as his worst weekend of the season: no points in the Sprint Race and a first-lap retirement in the Feature Race due more to racing circumstances than to his own mistake. A weekend to forget quickly. Despite an unremarkable Saturday, Bruno Del Pino retains third in the standings, although Rivera’s result dangerously brings him closer in the championship.
