After ten weeks forced off the calendar since the Australian round — and with the Bahrain event cancelled because of the Middle East conflict — FIA Formula 3 reconvenes at Spielberg for two crucial days of testing. Three of the protagonists are supported by Pro Racing Motorsport.

The 2026 FIA Formula 3 season got off to an unusual start. After the two opening races in Melbourne in February, the championship endured a long pause: the second round scheduled at Sakhir alongside the Bahrain Grand Prix was cancelled due to the Middle East conflict, and with it went the in‑season test planned at the same venue. The result: drivers stayed away from the car for ten weeks.

The two days at the Red Bull Ring are therefore far more than a simple setup session: they are the only chance to regain rhythm, dial in the car and rebuild confidence ahead of the European tranche of the season, compressed into just two months with six consecutive rounds. The first of those arrives in less than three weeks: Monaco, 6–7 June, one of the most demanding and selective tracks on the calendar.

Matteo De Palo brings the heaviest burden of ambition to the Red Bull Ring. The Italian finished 2025 as vice‑champion in the Formula Regional European Championship, a result that speaks to his potential and earned him a seat at Trident, champions in recent years with Leonardo Fornaroli and Rafael Camara. The move to FIA F3 is the natural next step in a rapidly rising career, and these two days represent an important relaunch after a tricky start in Australia.

Bruno Del Pino arrives at Spielberg with the most sparkling calling card: victory in the Melbourne Sprint Race on his F3 debut is a clear sign of talent. Yet the Van Amersfoort Racing driver is the first to admit that ten weeks away from the car can erode even the strongest margins. “It was a bit boring because I haven’t touched the car since Melbourne. I trained to stay fit, but going straight to Monaco without testing would have been nearly impossible. At the Red Bull Ring I want to make the most of every minute to find my rhythm and push to the limit, so I can be ready to restart strongly in Monaco,” he said.

Maciel Gladysz opened the season with sixth in the Melbourne Feature Race: a solid result that put him in the points at the first round and underlines an ability to manage a long race not always common at this level. The Pole arrives at the test with ART Grand Prix aiming to consolidate what he did in Australia, tackle the very different Red Bull Ring and collect data useful for the intense months ahead.

From Monaco on, FIA F3 does not stop. Six rounds in two months on some of Europe’s most demanding tracks require performance consistency that is hard to maintain without a solid technical base. Spielberg’s test is therefore as much a mental preparation exercise as a technical one: rediscovering the car, recalibrating, and arriving at Monaco with race focus already set.
