Quattro punti è il distacco con cui Matteo De Palo e Freddie Slater si presenteranno all’ultimo appuntamento della Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA).
Ad Hockneheim – penultimo weekend della stagione – è stato l’inglese a governare meglio i mille imprevisti occorsi nelle due gare e prendere un piccolo vantaggio in vista di Monza.
La prima gara ha regalato spettacolo e attimi di tensione fino all’ultimo giro. Dopo una buonissima qualifica che l’aveva portato al 2° posto Matteo De Palo ha preso il comando della gara sin dal via dopo la partenza dietro la safety car.
Slater però ha mostrato pazienza e passo: partita dalla quarta posizione, l’inglese superato Evan Giltaire e Akshay Bohra e poi si è lanciato in un duello serrato con Matteo De Palo, conquistando la testa della gara dopo un duello serratissimo che ha messo in crisi De Palo negli ultimi giri della gara dove ha dovuto difendersi dal ritorno di Giltaire.
Gara 2 invece si è svolta in condizioni meteorologiche molto più complicate, con pioggia intermittente che ha costretto a una partenza ritardata, l’uscita di due safety car e infine la bandiera rossa a causa di un temporale intensissimo. Enzo Deligny ha conquistato la vittoria davanti a un De Palo, determinato a mantenere viva la lotta per il titolo.
Slater, partito sempre più indietro, non ha forzato come Gara 1 assicurandosi punti preziosi – con il 4° posto finale – che gli hanno garantito la leadership della classifica con un margine di soli quattro punti.
Appuntamento il 25-26 ottobre a Monza per il gran finale.
Anche il weekend di Singapore in F1 Academy ha visto un duello serrato per il titolo tra Doriane Pin di Mercedes e Maya Weug di Ferrari.
La prima gara ha visto un dominio inaspettato di Lia Block, capace di gestire brillantemente la corsa dall’inizio alla bandiera a scacchi, nonostante le fasi di Safety Car. Joanne Ciconte (Wella) è rimasta attaccata alla zona punti, pronta a sfruttare ogni occasione che non sono però arrivate. La gara ha messo in luce la lotta accesa tra le protagoniste come Maya Weug, salita dal fondo della griglia fino ad un ottimo secondo posto, e Chloe Chambers, abile a conquistare il podio.
Gara 2, invece, si è disputata sotto una pioggia battente che ha mescolato le carte in tavola. La battaglia tra Maya Weug e Doriane Pin è stata il cuore della corsa, con Weug che ha portato a casa la vittoria all’ultima curva della gara, mantenendo così vive le speranze per il titolo. Tra pioggia battente e muri vicini, Joanne Ciconte ha trovato lo spiraglio e la strategia giusta per finire a punti per la terza volta dell’anno. Il suo 8° posto è il miglior risultato della stagione.
A Las Vegas – il 21 e il 22 novembre – per il gran finale.
Four points is the gap with which Matteo De Palo and Freddie Slater will arrive at the final round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). At Hockenheim—the penultimate weekend of the season—it was the Englishman who managed better the many unforeseen events that occurred during the two races, gaining a small advantage ahead of Monza.
The first race offered excitement and tense moments until the last lap. After a very good qualifying that put him in second place, Matteo De Palo took the lead from the start, following a safety car start. However, Slater showed patience and pace: starting from fourth position, the Englishman overtook Evan Giltaire and Akshay Bohra, then engaged in a fierce battle with Matteo De Palo, taking the lead after a very tight duel that put De Palo under pressure in the final laps, where he had to defend himself from Giltaire’s comeback.
Race 2, on the other hand, was held in much more challenging weather conditions, with intermittent rain causing a delayed start, two safety car periods, and finally a red flag due to a heavy thunderstorm. Enzo Deligny claimed victory ahead of a determined De Palo, who was intent on keeping the title fight alive. Slater, starting further back, did not push as hard as in Race 1 but secured valuable points—with a fourth-place finish—that guaranteed him the championship lead by just four points.
The grand finale is scheduled for October 25-26 at Monza.
The Singapore weekend in F1 Academy also featured a tight duel for the title between Doriane Pin of Mercedes and Maya Weug of Ferrari.
The first race saw an unexpected dominance from Lia Block, who brilliantly controlled the race from start to finish despite safety car phases. Joanne Ciconte (Wella) stayed close to the points zone, ready to seize every opportunity, but none came her way. The race highlighted a fierce battle among the main protagonists like Maya Weug, who climbed from the back of the grid to an excellent second place, and Chloe Chambers, skillful in securing a podium finish.
Race 2, instead, took place under heavy rain, which shuffled the order. The battle between Maya Weug and Doriane Pin was at the heart of the race, with Weug taking the victory at the last corner, keeping her title hopes alive. Amid the heavy rain and tight track conditions, Joanne Ciconte found the right opportunity and strategy to score points for the third time this year. Her eighth place is her best result of the season.
Las Vegas awaits on November 21 and 22 for the grand finale.
